Diagnostic Indicators
When an error occurs, the STANDBY LED fl ashes a set number of times to indicate the possible cause of the problem. If there is more than one error, the LED will identify the fi rst of the problem areas. If the errors occur simultaneously, the one that corresponds to the fewest fl ashes is identified first. (Results for all of the following diagnostic items are displayed on screen. No error has occurred if the screen displays a “00”)
1. TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a second of each other:
DISPLAY > Channel 5 > Volume - > TV POWER .
ACCESSING SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS
To adjust various set features, use the Remote Commander to put the set into service mode to display the service menus.
1. TV must be in standby mode. (Power off).
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a second of each other:
DISPLAY > Channel 5 > Volume + > TV POWER .
The first service menu (TV) displays.
3. To display the service menu that contains the category you want to adjust, press JUMP on the Remote Commander.
The screen displays the first category in the selected service menu. The screen displays the first category in the selected service menu.
4. To change the category, press 2 or 5 on the Remote Commander.
Note: Pressing 2 or 5 only changes the categories within the service menu displayed. To change a category on one of the other service menus, press the JUMP button until the correct service menu is displayed.
5. To change the adjustment item, press 1 or 4 on the Remote Commander.
6. To change the data value, press 3 or 6 on the Remote Commander.
7. To write into memory, press MUTING then 0 on the Remote Commander.
8. To exit service mode, turn the power off.
UPDATING MODEL INFORMATION AFTER REPLACING THE FB1 BOARD
Complete the following steps to reset the model information to the correct size after replacing the FB1 Board.
1. Access the Service Menu by pressing the following buttons on the Remote Commander within a second:
DISPLAY > Channel 5 > Volume + > TV POWER .
The service menu displays.
2. Press the JUMP button until the BEM micro service menu displays.
3. Press 2 until the 0001 MODEL_INFO category displays.
4. Using the 3 or 6 on the remote commander to increase or decrease the value, do one of the following:
If model size is 40” Set to 0
If model size is 46” Set to 1
5. To write into memory, press MUTING then 0 on the Remote Commander.
8. To exit service mode, turn the power off.

IF AFT adjustment
Disconnect J1(B face), input 38.9MHz PAL signal of 80dB from J1 near L11, Adjust L5 to value 1.25V of TP2. Enter factory menu, adjust TDA4470 from BG to LL, input 33.9MHz SECAM signal of 80dB, adjust R71 to value 1.25V of TP2, then wed J1.
IF AGC adjustment
Input 184.25MHz RF signal (PAL/BG) of 60DBuv from RF terminal, adjust R64 to value 4V of TP4 and there should be no obvious snowy picture. Increase the signal to 90DBVuv and it should be display normally and no obvious noise.
White balance adjustment
VGA white balance check
a. Input VG-848 signal of VGA: TIMING854(800* 600/60Hz) (PATIERN:CROSS) and auto adjust to full screen, then input PAT948 black/white signal, enter factory menu ADC ADJ, select AUTOTUNE and wait for OK display. Input PAT920(8 gray levels), check if the white balance is normal, if not, set ALL COLOR to 0 and fine adjust according the method of 3.3.2
VGA white balance correct
a. Input VG-848 signal to VGA: TIMING854(800*600/60Hz) 8 level gray scale of PAT920, adjust the balance with CA210.
b. Enter COLOR TEMP sub menu and select color temperature of standard(9300K)
c. Fixed B GAIN, adjust R GAIN, G GAIN to let the color coordinate of the seventh level be 285,293; Fixed B OFF, adjust R OFF, G OFF to let the color coordinate of the second level be 285,293 and the brightness be 3nit ~10nit or so. Repeat adjust R GAIN, G GAIN, R OFF and G OFF, until the two color coordinate of the level gray scale be 285,293.
YPbPr/AV white balance check and correct
a. Connect VG-848 signal of YPBPR to YPBPR terminal and input TIMING972(1080i/60HZ) color bar of PAT908(include black/white bar), Enter submenu of ADC ADJ, Select AUTOTUNE and wait for OK display. Input PAT920(8 gray levels),
b. Input AV signal(PM5518, 8 gray levels) to VIDEO terminal, check if the white balance is normal, if not, set ALL COLOR to 0 and fine adjust according the method of 3.3.2 b, c.
Note: it can’t set back to 1 once ALL COLOR changes to 0. 4 Software upgrade When software upgrading please enter factory menu first, enter ISP of OPTION, set ISP to 1 and you can begin to upgrade. After upgrade finished, it needs to set ISP back to 0. If the picture can’t display when upgrading, it needs to web JB2 of 01S board. Please disconnect JB2 again after upgrading.
Performance check

Input AV/S, YPbPr/YCbCr HD signal, check if it is normal.

Service mode:
1. Turn the power on.
2. Press [SOURCE], [2], [5], [8] and [0] buttons on the remote control unit in this order to enter the service mode. 
The Factory Setting menu appears in the screen
White Balance Adjustment
Purpose:
To mix red and blue beams correctly for pure white.
Symptom of Misadjustment: White becomes bluish or reddish.
1. Operate the unit for more than 60 minutes.
2. Input the White Raster of composite video signal to AV (70%=70IRE, 40%=40IRE).
3. Enter the service mode.
4. Press [0] button on the remote control unit to display the “White Balance” menu.
Additional step:
A1. Press [2] button on the remote control unit to select the “Colour Temp” menu.
A2. Press [<] or [>] button to select the "Normal". 5. Select a color mode (“3 R-GAIN”, “5 B-GAIN”, “6 R-OFFSET” or “8 B-OFFSET”).
6. Set the color analyzer at the CHROMA mode and zero point calibration. Bring the optical receptor pointing at the center of the LCD-Panel.
Note: The optical receptor must be set perpendicularly to the LCD Panel surface.
7. In each color mode, press [<] or [>] button to adjust the color temperature becomes 12000°K (x= 0.272 / y= 0.278 ±0.015).
8. To cancel or to exit from the White Balance Adjustment, press [BACK] button.
Firmware Update Procedure
[Preparation]
1. Prepare USB storage device.
2. Copy F/W-file to USB storage device.
Note: Make sure to use the blank USB Storage.
3. Make sure that the F/W-file’s name is “LC11_308B_FUNAI.bin”.
[Update procedure]
1. Turn the power on.
2. Insert USB storage device with F/W to TV set.
3. Press the [MENU] button on the remote control unit to display Menu.
4. Select “SETUP”.
5. Select “Software Update (USB)” and press [OK] button.
The message “Are you sure?” will appear in the screen.
6. Press [LEFT] button to select “YES”.
7. Updating starts.
Note: Do not turn off the TV set and do not remove the USB storage device while this procedure.
8. The TV set will go off and turn back on automatically when update completes.
Additional step:
A1. Enter the service mode.
A2. Select "Init TV" and press [OK] button. The TV set will go off and go back on automatically.
A3. Adjust the white balance.
[Confirmation of update]
1. Enter the service mode.
2. Check the “Checksum” section.

General Alignment Instruction
1.Usually, a color LCD-TV needs only slight touch-up adjustment upon installation. Check the basic characteristics such as height, horizontal and vertical sync.
2.Use the specified test equipment or its equivalent.
3.Correct impedance matching is essential.
4.Avoid overload. Excessive signal from a sweep generator might overload the front-end of the TV. When inserting signal markers, do not allow the marker generator to distort test result.
5.Connect the TV only to an AC power source with voltage and frequency as specified on the backcover nameplate.
6.Do not attempt to connect or disconnect any wire while the TV is turned on. Make sure that the power cord is disconnected before replacing any parts. To protect against shock hazard, use an isolation transformer.

To enter ‘Service Mode’ Press the remote -control keys in this sequence :

1) Apply the NTSC Lattice (N0. 3) pattern signal to the AV IN 1 port

Method of Color Calibration (Component)
1) Apply the 720p Lattice (N0. 6) pattern signal to the Component IN 1 port
2) Press the Source key to switch to “Component1” mode
3) Enter Service mode
4) Select the “Calibration” menu
5) Select the “Comp Calibration” menu.
6) In “Comp Calibration Off” status, press the “ >” key to perform Calibration.
7) When Calibration is complete, it returns to the high-level menu.
8) You can see the change of the “Comp Calibration” status from Failure to Success.
Method of Color Calibration (PC)
1) Apply the VESA XGA Lattice (N0. 21) pattern signal to the PC IN port
2) Press the Source key to switch to “PC” mode
3) Enter Service mode
4) Select the “Calibration” menu
5) Select the “PC Calibration” menu.
6) In “PC Calibration Off” status, press the “ > ” key to perform Calibration.
7) When Calibration is complete, it returns to the high-level menu.
8) You can see the change of the “PC Calibration” status from Failure to Success.
Method of Color Calibration (HDMI)
1) Apply the 720p Lattice (N0. 6) pattern signal to the HDMI1/DVI IN port
2) Press the Source key to switch to “HDMI1” mode

Service Menu Access
Adjustment Procedure
(1) Press and hold INPUT key on Control Panel and then press POWER key on control panel to access I2C 
adjustment mode.
(2) Receive signal on main picture. (NTSC, SDTV or HDTV).
Some menu pages have I2C adjustments for SDTV and HDTV. The set will automatically allow you to set these items only when a SDTV or HDTV signal is input to the COMPONENT jacks on the back of the TV.
(3) Check the OSD according to table on pages 31~37, using THUMB STICK ,  on Remote Control.

(4) Press EXIT key to exit I2C ADJUST mode.
NOTE: (1) If the TV I2C data is different from the I2C Parameter (pages 31~37) for fixed data, change the data.
(2) When exchanging microprocessor or EEPROM and TV is turned on for first time, it requires initialization of Memory Initial of I2C adjustment menu.
(3) Use FACTORY RESET to set TV to out of factory shipping conditions: Do not use MEMORY INITIALIZE.
Comb filter operation check
Adjustment preparation
(1) Receive the color bar signal at the regular tuning point.
(2) Set the CONTRAST control to MAX and the other controls to center.
(3) Set the PERFECT PICTURE to OFF.
Adjustment procedure
(1) Check that between the color bars there are line dots every second color bar
Video Settings (Advanced Settings)
Perfect Picture Check
(1) Receive the color bar signal.
(2) Select video mode by THUMB STICK cursor.
(3) Use THUMB STICK  to highlight advanced settings and then press THUMB STICK  to enter Advanced Settings Mode.
(4) Select Perfect Picture by pressing THUMB STICK .
(5) Check that the display becomes dark when the light sensor QM002 (light detect transistor on the control P.W.B.) is covered with hands.
(6) Set Perfect Picture to OFF by pressing select button and check that contrast of the display returns to normal.
Auto Color Check
(1) Set to the color control to MAX.
(2) Select Auto Color.
(3) Set Auto Color: OFF by pressing select button and check the red part of color bar signal grows deeper.
(4) Retrun to Auto Color: ON by pressing select button.
(5) Retrun the color control to center.
Noise Reduction Check
(1) Receive the color bar signal.
(2) Select noise reduction.
(3) Check that the noise in the picture is reduced.
Color Temperature Check
(1) Receive Circle pattern signal.
(2) Select COLOR TEMPERATURE.
(3) Check that the picture is reddish when set to WARM and bluish when set to COOL. Velocity Modulation Check
(1) Select VELOCITY MODULATION.
(2) Check that the edge of the vertical line of the picture is thicker.
Black Level Expansion Check
(1) Select BLACK LEVEL EXPANSION.
(2) Check that the Black Level is sink at black portion of picture.
High Voltage Adjustment (should NOT be readjusted in field).
Adjustment preparation
(1) Connect High Voltage meter to FBT High Voltage output. Connect GND of High Voltage meter to CPT GND or FBT GND.
(2) Check that High Voltage adjustment VR (RH17) is set to mechanical center. (located behind FBT on DEFLECTION PWB).
(3) Receive circle pattern signal.
(4) VIDEO control should be reset.
Adjustment procedure
(1) Adjust High Voltage to following spec. by turning VR RH17 slowly. ADJ. SPEC = 31.7±0.2kV(DP17),
= 30.2±0.2kv(DP14G).
(2) After adjustment, fix VR RH17 with Silicone glue (KE40RTV).
INAL ASSEMBLY ADJUSTMENT
Cut Off Adjustment
Adjustment preparation
(1) Adjust screen VR s on Focus Pack fully counterclockwise.
(2) Adjust Focus VR s on Focus Pack fully clockwise.
(3) Set video conditions to factory preset.
(4) The vertical incident illumination on the screen should be 20 lux or less (room should be dark).
Adjustment procedure
(1) Press and hold INPUT key on control panel and then POWER ON to access I2C adjustment mode.
(2) Choose “SERVICE” item from I2C adjustment menu by pressing THUMB STICK .
(3) Screen VR should be turned clockwise gradually and set so that retrace line begins to appear.
(4) Return to “NORMAL” mode by THUMB STICK  again.
(5) Adjust Focus VR’s so that focus is even all around screen.

The unit adjustment
According to the wiring diagram specified by “Product Specification”, connect
power/backlight board assembly, data processing assembly, IR/Key board assembly correctly, supply with power, turn on the TV set. Check display.
Factory menu instruction
a) Press key “INPUT”, then press digital keys “2
,5,8,0” in turn to enter into primary factory menu;
b) Press keys “
” and “” to move cursor to each page of primary factory menu, then press key “OK” to enter into submenu page;

i) Factory menu item: ADC ADJUST to be used for ADC calibration for VGA and Component;
j) Factory menu item: Fac. Channel Preset to be used for factory channel presetting; central signal digital frequency value for Australia program is set as CH28(529.5 MHz) and CH33(564.5 MHz); original digital program presetting could not change if central signal setting has any modification, so please search for digital program manually by perform item DTV of menu Channel;
k) Factory menu item: Color Temp. to be used for white balance adjustment;
l) Factory menu item: Store Setting Init.
m) Factory menu item: USB SW Update to be used for software updating from USB port; when U disk containing updating software is inserted into USB port, choose the item to
perform updating process;
n) Factory menu item: Other Settings include settings of EEPROM Init, MEMC Update, Power mode, MST DEBUG, ISP MODE, Backlight, SSC, NONLINEAR, Video Quality, Audio Quality, Light Sensor, Overscan, etc.; no need any adjustment normally.
o) Factory menu item: Shipment to be used for initializing user data; Success flag will display after initialization, then press KEY POWER only to power off the TV set.
p) Please perform EEPROM Init before adjustment for the first time if software has been upgraded or data have been kept in EEPROM.
ADC calibration for D-SUB channel
a) Switch to D-SUB channel;
b) Press key “INPUT”, then press digital keys “2,5,8,0” in turn to enter into primary factory menu;
c) Move cursor to item “ADC ADJUST” and press key “OK” to enter into the inferior submenu;
d) Input D-SUB signal (VG-849 Timing:856 (1024×768/60 Hz), Pattern:914 Chess Pattern); move cursor to item “MODE”, press keys “
” and “” to choose item “RGB”, then move cursor to item “AUTO ADC” and press key “OK” to perform auto adjustment until prompt “success” displays;
ADC calibration for Component channel
a) Switch to Component channel;
b) Press key “INPUT”, then press digital keys “2
,5,8,0” in turn to enter into primary factory,menu;
c) Move cursor to item “ADC ADJUST” and press key “OK” to enter into the inferior submenu;
d) Input Component signal (VG-849 Timing:972(1080i), Pattern:918 100% color bar); move,cursor to item “MODE”, press keys “
” and “” to choose item “YPbPr”, then move cursor to,item “AUTO ADC” and press key “OK” to perform auto adjustment until prompt “success”,displays;
White balance adjustment
Unless specified by customer, default settings of COOL color temperature is 12000K and chromatic coordinates is (2
80,290); referenced settings of Normal color temperature is 9300K and chromatic coordinates is (295,305); referenced settings of Warm color temperature is 6500K and chromatic coordinates is (313,329);
Default setting is Normal.
Adjustment procedures
The TV set should be working above 30 minutes to be in a stabler state before adjustment. Use CA-210 BBY channel to adjust white balance;
a) Switch to HDMI channel;
b) Press key “INPUT”, then press digital keys “2,5,8,0” in turn to enter into primary factory,menu;
c) Move cursor to item “W/B ADJUST” and press key “OK” to enter into the inferior submenu;
d) Input HDMI signal (VG-849 Timing:856(1024×768/60 Hz)
Pattern:914 Chess Pattern);,move cursor to item “MODE”, press keys “” and “” to choose item “HDMI”, then move,cursor to item “TEMPERTURE” and press keys “” and “” to choose “COOL”;
e) Fix “G GAIN”, adjust “R GAIN, B GAIN” to set 14th chromatic coordinates as (272,278);
f) Fix “G OFFSET”, adjust “R OFFSET
B OFFSET” to set 4th chromatic coordinates as (272,278);
g) To make sure chromatic coordinates of bright scale are (X=280±10,Y=290±10) and chromatic coordinates of dark scale are (X=280±10
Y=290±10) during adjusting;
h) Move cursor to item “COPY ALL” to copy white balance data to other channels except DTV channel;
i) Check if chromatic coordinates of NORMAL and WARM meet the requirements (permitted error of NORMAL bright scale: x±10
y±10, permitted error of NORMAL dark scale: x±10 y±10; permitted error of WARM bright scale and dark scale: x±10 y±10); if not, adjust “R_GAIN /B_GAIN/R_OFF/B_OFF” to be up to the requirements and then save the data;
j) Perform “Copy All” for Normal/Warm adjustments except DTV channel;
k) Check if chromatic coordinates of other channels meet the requirements, if not, do adjustment for nonstandard channel alone with the same procedures from b) to j) as HDMI channel’s and then save the data;
l) Switch to HDMI channel, change to 16-grey-scale program from central signal source, adjust white balance with the same procedures from e) to g) as HDMI channel’s; but pay
attention not to perform “COPY ALL”!
m) Inspect all channels after completing adjustment to check if display is normal;
n) Refer to the following rule for adjustment:
B Gain/Offset: adjust B Gain/Offset downward, coordinates of X and Y will increase, adjust B Gain/Offset upward, coordinates of X and Y will decrease;
R Gain/Offset: adjust R Gain/Offset will affect X value, but affect Lv value slightly, adjust R Gain/Offset upward, coordinates of X will increase, adjust R Gain/Offset downward, coordinates of X will decrease;
G Gain/Offset: adjust G Gain/Offset will affect Y value, and affect Lv value greatly, adjust G
Gain/Offset upward, coordinates of Y will increase, adjust G Gain/Offset downward, coordinates of Y will decrease;
Note: Sanyo customer requires that default color temperature is Normal, adjust white balance of color temperature Normal and Cool in Dynamic picture mode; for other customers, please adjust white balance of color temperature Cool in Dynamic picture mode.

SERVICE MODE AND POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 

SERVICE MENU SETTINGS
All system, geometry and white balance alignments are performed in production service mode. Before starting the production mode alignments, make sure that all manual adjustments are done correctly.
To start production mode alignments enter the MENU by pressing “M” button and then press the digits 4, 7, 2 and 5 respectively.
There are 3 submenu in service menu. These are display, calibration and deinterlacer menus. Press “/” buttons to select a menu title and then “/” buttons to select a menu item and “/” or “OK”buttons to set the menu item to the desired option.
To exit the service menu press “M” button.
display menu
By pressing “
/” buttons select the first icon. display menu appears on the screen.
blank color
By pressing c/d button, select blank color. Press e/f button to set the blank color. The options are: black, red, green and blue.
panel
Displays panel resolution
power on time
Displays total working time of the set
backlight on time
Displays total backlight on time of the set.
scart prescale
By pressing c/d button, select scart prescaler. Press e/f button to set the scart prescaler. Scart prescale can be adjusted between 0 and 127.
nicam prescale
By pressing c/d button, select nicam prescaler. Press e/f button to set the nicam prescaler. Nicam prescale can be adjusted between 0 and 127.
fm/am prescale
By pressing c/d button, select fm/am prescaler. Press e/f button to set the fm/am prescaler. Fm/am prescale can be adjusted between 0 and 127.
subwoofer corner
By pressing c/d button, select subwoofer corner. Press e/f button to set the subwoofer corner. Subwoofer corner can be adjusted between 0 and 7.
subwoofer level
By pressing c/d button, select subwoofer level. Press e/f button to set the subwoofer level. Subwoofer level can be adjusted between 0 and 32.
agc adjustment
Adjustment for automatic gain control of tuner. By pressing c/d button, select agc adjustment. Press e/f button to set the agc adjustment. Agc adjustment can be adjusted between 0 and 31.
calibration menu
By pressing “
/” buttons select the second icon. calibration menu appears on the screen.
color temp
By pressing c/d button, select color temp. Press e/f button to set the color temperature. The options are: 5500K, 6500K, 7500K, 9300K and user.
user color temp
By pressing c/d button, select user color temp. Press f button to increase the user color temperature. Press e button to decrease the user color temperature. User color temperature can be adjusted between 5000K and 9300K.
video format
By pressing c/d button, select video format. Press e/f button to set the video format. The options are: auto, ntsc, pal, secam and ntsc japan.
color space
Displays the current color space used. RGB, YPbPr SMPTE240, YPbPr REC709 and YCbCr REC601.
test pattern
By pressing c/d button, select test pattern. Press e/f button to set the test pattern. The options are: none, solid color and vert bars.
color components
By pressing c/d button, select color components. Press e/f button to set the color components. The options are: all, red, green and blue.
solid field level
By pressing c/d button, select solid field level. Press f button to increase or e button to decrease the solid field level. Solid field level can be adjusted between 0 and 64.
adc calibration
Not used for this model.
initial APS
By pressing c/d button, select initial APS. Initial aps is selected on or off. If initial aps is wanted on startup, this item should be made on.
factory reset
By pressing c/d button, select factory reset. Press “OK” button to return to the factory setting values.
Deinterlacer menu
By pressing “
/” buttons select the third icon. deinterlacer menu appears on the screen.
blank expansion
By pressing c/d button, select blank expansion. Blank expantion can be set to on or off by pressing e/f button.
dcti
Digital colour transition improvement: By pressing c/d button, select dcti. DCTI can be adjusted between 0 and 255 by pressing e/f button.
dlti
Digitial luma transition improvement: By pressing c/d button, select dlti. DLTI can be adjusted between 0 and 255 by pressing e/f button.
luminance peaking
By pressing c/d button, select luminance peaking. Luminance peaking can be set to on or off by pressing e/f button.
film mode
By pressing c/d button, select film mode. Film mode speed can be set to on or off by pressing e/f button.
film mode speed
By pressing c/d button, select film mode speed. Film mode speed can be set to 0, 1, 2 or 3 by pressing e/f button.
vof
video on film. By pressing c/d button, select vof. VOF can be set to on or off by pressing e/f button.
bad cut
By pressing c/d button, select vof. Bad cut can be set to on or off by pressing e/f button.
nr threshold
By pressing c/d button, select nr threshold. Nr threshold can be set to low or high by pressing e/f button.
noise reduction
By pressing c/d button, select noise reduction. Noise reduction can be adjusted between 0 and 255 by pressing e/f button.
lai level
By pressing c/d button, select lai level. Lai level can be set to 0, 1 or 2 by pressing e/f button.
sharpness
By pressing c/d button, select sharpness. Sharpness can be adjusted between 0 and 255 by pressing e/f button.
sparkle
By pressing c/d button, select sparkle. Sparkle can be adjusted between 0 and 255 by pressing e/f button
