DISASSEMBLING PROCEDURE
How to remove Battery
On the lower left hand side of the Razr is the door for the SIM and MicroSD cards. Open this door and remove the two cards before proceeding to disassemble the phone.
Use the plastic opening tool to pry the back cover off the phone. Work around the perimeter of the phone’s seam to carefully un-snap each clip.
There is a small amount of adhesive in the center of the back cover attaching it to the battery. Using the metal spudger, separate this adhesive.
You can now remove the back cover from the Razr.
With the back cover removed, the battery is visible. Locate and remove the two T5 torx screws under the red rubber terminal cover. This will disconnect the battery’s current.
With the torx screws removed, use the plastic spudger and the pull-tab to help lift the battery.
You can now remove the battery from the Motorola Droid Razr.
The camera cover plate is a clear plastic plate that needs to be removed to expose one of the screws that secures the case together.
Underneath the black foil, to the right of the camera, is a securing T5 torx screw. Use the razor blade to cut a small hole in the foil to access this screw. Remove the securing screw.
With the plastic opening tool, peel this plastic cover off the Razr.
There are a total of ten T5 torx head screws that secure the rear chassis onto the phone. Use the T5 torx bit screwdriver to remove these screws. The chassis is now free, remove it from the phone. Insert the plastic opening tool in the seam of the phone’s unit and rear case. Release the plastic clips that secure it around the perimeter of the phone.
You can now remove the rear portion of the phone’s case
How to remove Rear Speaker
The phone’s rear speaker is housed in the back portion of the phone’s case. Use the spudger and pry up to release the securing adhesive. You can now remove the rear speaker from the Motorola Droid Razr.
The metal frame helping secure the motherboard into the phone is held in place with three T5 torx screws. Use the T5 torx screwdriver to remove these screws.
With the frame’s screws removed, detach the metal rame from the Droid Razr.
There is a small metal shield that covers the display assembly connections in the middle of the motherboard. Use the spudger and pry this shield up to reveal the display’s plugs.
Three push plug connections need to be removed from the motherboard. Use the spudger to pry up and release the connections.
On the camera side of the device, plastic tabs are holding the connections into the motherboard and the display assembly.
Use the spudger to release these tabs. The motherboard can now be removed from the Razr.
With all the connections and securing screws removed, use the spudger to finish separating the motherboard from the display assembly.
How to remove Earpiece Speaker
The next three connections to be removed are in locking sockets. To release the ribbon cables make sure you flip the tabs upward.
The earpiece speaker is the first connection. Use the spudger to flip the socket lock up, release the cable, and remove the earpiece speaker from its socket in the Motorola Droid Razr.
How to remove Front-Facing Camera
The front-facing camera is the next connection. Use the spudger to flip the socket lock up, release the cable, and remove the camera from its socket in the Razr.
How to remove Rear-Facing Camera
The rear-facing camera is the last connection. Use the spudger to flip the socket lock up, release the cable, and remove the rear-facing camera from its socket in the Razr.
How to remove Display Assembly
Now, turn your attention back to the display assembly. The touch panel and plastic frame around it is an entire unit.
To replace the plastic frame only, the two pieces need to be separated from each other. A small amount of adhesive is holding the touch screen/ front panel and frame together.
Use the heat gun/blow dryer and the spudger to separate these two for replacement.
