TROUBLE SHOOTING DEFAULT SETTING AND POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 

Taking the disc out.
1. Remove the top cover with 8 screws.
2. Remove the both side covers with 8 screws.
3. Remove the 8 screws of front panel and unfasten 2 screws of front legs.
4. Pull out the front panel.
5. Turn right the pulley by your finger or nail. (See fig.1)
6. Then the tray is moved a little. Pull the tray with your hand at this time.
Note: Take care of unhurt gear belt.

Installing necessary CD-ROM for version.

For /U: Key reassignment Disc (44444444.016) and Background (NTSC) Disc (22222222.008)

How to installing the software
All software is installed from CD-ROM. These are supplied by another disc, respectively. When disc was put in the player,
software is installed automatically. And disc comes out of the player, after fi nished. The sequence to install is “Key
reassignment” fi rst and, next, is “Background”.
Entering Version and region code
Caution: This information is confidential and may not be distributed. Only a qualified service person should reprogram the mono board.
Reprogramming is limited to 25 times.
When the counter reaches 25, reprogramming is not possible anymore and the region code change counter
must be reset by means of the Diagnostic Software.
Reprogramming will be done by way of the remote control.
Put the player in stop mode, no disc loaded.
Press the following keys on the remote control.
<PLAY> followed by numerical keys <2>, <7>, <4>
The display shows “-----------“
Press now successively the following keys
For /N: <0>, <0>, <1>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>
For /U: <0>, <0>, <2>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>
For /S: <0>, <0>, <3>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>
For /F: <0>, <0>, <4>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>, <0>
Press <PLAY> again.
The TV screen will become blue during a short time to confi rm that the digital board has been reprogrammed.
How to confirm the software and the version.
11111111.008/ 22222222.008: Displayed on TV screen as background of marantz is OK, after entering version.
If a power supply is turned on, with <STOP> and <NEXT> of a player pushed, a change of NTSC mode
and PAL mode can be performed.
44444444.016: Worked <DISPLAY OFF> or <VIDEO OFF> of the player is OK, After entered version.
Version: Looked at “Audio language” or “Subtitle language” in “Personal preferences”.
The contents of “Audio language” or “Subtitle language” are as the following table.

Trouble shooting AV Board
Testing of A/V board can be done using diagnostic software “Player script”.
Mono board is used to generate a sound with the sound tests PINKNOISE ON and SINE ON.
A VIDEO signal is generated with COLOUR-B ON.
Functional control of scart switching is also possible.
To put set in “Player script”, press keys STOP+OPEN/CLOSE simultaneously and switch player on. Proceed until display shows .
Press PLAY to execute. During this test, an audio pink noise signal will be sent to the audio cinches and the audio outputs of the scarts..
POWER SUPPLY
Check supply voltages 3V3(IC 7400), +8Vaud(IC 7304), -8Vstby(R3615), +12Vstby(T7333). Check flex connection to mono board.
PCM_OUT[0:2] LRCLK, SCLK PCM
Check testpoints 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13. Check flex connection to mono board Check mono board _CLK
AUDIO AT OUTPUTS OF DAC 7401 ?
Check for analog signal at outputs of DAC IC 7401: p 1,2,4,5,28,29,31,32 (testpoint 14). Check DAC IC 7401 Check VREFA on pin 30 of DAC 7401: 1.65V?
AUDIO CINCH OUTPUTS Testpoint 15?
Check OPAMPS 7403, 7408. KILL: -8V DURING PLAY?
LEVEL OK?

TROUBLESHOOTING DAC BOARD
Testing of DAC board can be done using diagnostic software “Player script”. Mono board is used to generate a sound with the sound test SINE ON.
To put set in “Player script”, press keys STOP+OPEN/CLOSE simultaneously and switch player on. Press NEXT until display shows " SINE ON " Press PLAY to execute. During this test, an audio sine signal will be sent to the audio cinches.
Check supply voltages 12VA, -12VA, +5VA, +3.3VD, +12VR, +3.3VOSC (QD23) Check connection to Linear power supply Check flex connection to mono board. Master Clock at pin2 of conn. JD01(16.9344 MHz)
